Terms of Use

Last updated: November 2, 2026

Foxglove is a free tool made by an independent artist for other artists. By using the Foxglove website or app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

What Foxglove does

Foxglove processes images entirely on your device. On the website, it rebuilds the file from its pixels, leaving out location, serial numbers, hidden thumbnails and edit history (it keeps the capture date and camera model unless you turn that off), writes your name, rights and a “do not train” statement into it, and draws a visible signature if you turn that on; its Docs tab works on your documents in your browser. The iPhone app (version 1.1.1) strips the file’s metadata, hides a message in the pixels when the image can carry it, and adds a faint noise pattern if Perturbation is on. Foxglove doesn’t upload your images; they leave your device only if you share or send them yourself. See our Privacy Policy for details.

No guarantee of protection

Foxglove is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. AI systems — and the methods used to defeat protections — change constantly. We do not guarantee that images processed with Foxglove cannot be viewed, described, copied, or used to train AI, or that any watermark or perturbation will survive editing, compression, or future techniques. Foxglove records your authorship and terms in the file and, if you turn it on, on the picture; it does not and cannot guarantee against misuse. Please don't rely on Foxglove as your only safeguard for high-stakes work.

Your work stays yours

You keep all rights to the images you process. Foxglove claims no ownership of your images or anything you create with the tool, and never receives a copy of your images unless you send one, for example as a screenshot with feedback.

Acceptable use

Intellectual property

Foxglove’s code, design and artwork are the property of its maker. All rights reserved. Using the tool doesn't grant you any rights to the software itself.

Third-party services

The iOS app is distributed through the Apple App Store, subject to Apple's terms. The website uses FormSubmit.co to process the optional email sign-up form and the feedback form, and Vercel for hosting and for analytics (page views plus sign-up and App Store button counts), which Vercel describes as anonymous. Optional donation links point to third-party platforms (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Ko-fi). Those services have their own terms and privacy policies.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Foxglove and its maker are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the tool, including any failure of Foxglove to prevent AI use of your work.

Changes

We may update these terms. Changes will be posted on this page with a new date. Continuing to use Foxglove after changes means you accept them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
